This is an entry-level opportunity for someone early in their data engineering career to learn our claims data systems, contribute to pipeline development under the guidance of senior engineers, and build technical depth supporting a mission-critical VA program.ResponsibilitiesWrite clean, well-documented code to support data pipeline development and maintenanceAssist with exploratory data preparation and cleansing of claims and healthcare data sourcesSupport senior engineers in identifying and fixing bugs in existing ETL/ELT pipelinesLearn and apply standard debugging and troubleshooting processes for data pipeline issuesPerform basic data quality checks under the guidance of senior team membersDocument data workflows and processes as directedParticipate in code reviews to build familiarity with team standards and practicesLearn the team's domain, codebase, schemas, and MDC data systemsRequired QualificationsU.S. Citizenship requiredMust hold, or be able to obtain, a Public Trust clearance (an active Secret or Top Secret clearance also satisfies this requirement)Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Data Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)0-3 years of experience in data engineering, software development, or a related fieldFamiliarity with Python and SQLWillingness to learn ETL/ELT concepts and cloud-based data platformsStrong attention to detail and eagerness to learnAbility to work collaboratively and receive feedback/mentorship from senior team membersPreferred QualificationsCoursework, internship, or project experience involving data pipelines or data engineeringExposure to Pandas, Git, or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)Familiarity with healthcare or claims data a plusBenefitsHealth insuranceDental insuranceVision insuranceLife Insurance401(k) Retirement Plan with matchingPaid Time OffPaid Federal Holidays$85,000 - $105,000 a yearSteerBridge is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
