We are reviewing a project that supports parents who are committed to recovering from drug and alcohol addictions.
The project provides problem drug users with positive, non-judgmental and bespoke packages of support (e.g. parenting support, support to improve relationships with family and friends, help to overcome addiction). This work is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and aims to reduce the social isolation and stigma that families and relatives of addicts face daily and throughout their lifetimes. In particular, the project aims to break down the barriers (i.e., feelings of embarrassment and shame) that prevent people asking for and accessing support.
